TORCH Inc. excavates the narratives dormant within regions and organizations, turning them into brands, publications, and businesses that endure.
Founded by Kazuya Sano, a former Hakuhodo strategist who chose Sapporo over Tokyo. TORCH brings world-class creative thinking to regional stories, local brands, and communities that deserve better than what local agencies offer.
Media production. Book publishing. Brand development. Business consulting. All woven together by a belief that the best stories in Japan aren't in Tokyo. They're everywhere else.
From narrative to brand to business. One studio, vertically integrated.
Interviews, long-form writing, publication design. Torchlight, the web magazine, reaches creators across Japan who build joyfully wherever they are.
Regional municipalities, local businesses, emerging ventures. We turn their dormant narratives into visual identities and strategic positioning that resonates.
Torch Bookstore connects makers across Japan. Direct-to-reader book sales, curated goods from local creators, and original publications that document regional life.
New venture planning for organizations ready to tell their story differently. From concept to launch, grounded in real community needs.
Place-based programming that brings people together around shared stories. Workshops, gatherings, and media events that build lasting connections.
Operating hospitality spaces that embody the TORCH philosophy. Guests experience regional stories firsthand through thoughtfully designed stays.
Kazuya Sano studied engineering at Osaka University, then joined Hakuhodo, one of the world's largest advertising agencies. He could have stayed on that path.
Instead, he went to IAMAS to study regional communities and web media. Then to Quantum Inc. to learn corporate innovation. Then back to Hokkaido, where he was born, to build something that mattered.
TORCH exists because Tokyo agencies won't touch small regional projects, and local agencies can't deliver the quality those stories deserve. Kazuya is one of very few people who bridges both worlds.
They're in Hokkaido's fishing villages, Okhotsk's forests, and Sapporo's backstreets. TORCH finds them, shapes them, and makes them last.
